Even within controlled spaces, maintaining temperatures at 70-75 degrees (as most batteries are designed for) can lead to high overhead costs. 

How Does Heat Affect the Performance of Your Battery?

A battery’s power is generated by the interaction of a positive and negative charge within an electrolyte solution. Ambient temperature can have a major impact on this chemical reaction, as is commonly seen in colder temperatures, where the charge generates more slowly. Warmer temperatures have the opposite effect, enabling an increase in the chemical reaction. When it is too warm and the charge is too high, the current can leak within the battery, which contributes to an increase in the battery's self-discharge rate, making it age much faster. (This is usually the biggest factor decreasing the life expectancy of a battery).
